Commercial roofing FAQ
Clarity before the scope.
Straight answers help facility teams ask better questions, compare recommendations, and decide what deserves investigation next.

Useful answers
Start informed.
Every building is different, but a clear first framework makes the next conversation more productive.
01Do you work on residential roofs?
Old Dominion’s focus is commercial and industrial roofing. That specialization supports the systems, safety planning, equipment coordination, and project scale required by larger facilities.
02Does a leak always mean the roof needs replacement?
No. The right response depends on the source of water, the assembly’s condition, prior repairs, moisture extent, and remaining service opportunity. Investigation should come before a replacement conclusion.
03How often should a commercial roof be inspected?
A practical schedule considers roof age, system type, warranty guidance, severe weather, rooftop traffic, drainage, and known vulnerabilities. Planned reviews also help create a useful condition history.
04Can roof work happen while our facility stays open?
Often, yes. Access, noise, odors, material movement, safety zones, weather, and daily sequencing should be planned around occupants and operations before work begins.
05What is the difference between repair, restoration, and replacement?
A repair addresses a defined problem. Restoration may renew an eligible existing system and extend its useful life. Replacement installs a new assembly when condition, risk, or facility plans justify it.
06Which roof system is best?
There is no universal answer. TPO, PVC, EPDM, built-up, modified bitumen, coatings, and standing-seam metal each fit different performance requirements, building conditions, details, and budgets.
07What should we have ready for the first conversation?
The building address and use, known roof age or system, leak locations or symptoms, previous repair information, access constraints, and desired timing are all helpful.
